Hokuriku Food & Culture Tour

This tour offers hands-on cultural experiences in the Hokuriku region, featuring two main themes: Japanese food culture and traditional craft experiences.

Participants will visit Ishikawa and Fukui, where they can explore regional cuisine, sake brewing, traditional cooking, Kutani ware, Wakasa lacquerware, and local craftsmanship.

・Mochi-Pounding Experience

Participants will enjoy a traditional mochi-pounding experience and taste freshly made mochi.

・Sake Brewery Visit

Participants will visit the Noguchi Naohiko Sake Institute and learn about sake brewing that uses the pure underground water of sacred Mt. Hakusan.

・Wakasa Regional Cooking Experience

At a museum kitchen, participants will experience making local dishes from the Wakasa region, such as saba-zushi, temari-zushi, kuzu manju, and decchi yokan.

・Traditional Okudosan Cooking Experience

Participants will cook rice, miso soup, and smoked dishes using a traditional Japanese cooking stove called okudosan.

・Tea Kaiseki Experience

In Komatsu City, Ishikawa Prefecture, participants will enjoy tea kaiseki cuisine, where the beauty of food is paired with Kutani ware tableware.

・Seafood Market and Local Cuisine Experience

Observe the lively morning fish auction at the Obama Fisheries Cooperative, then savor regional seafood specialties, including traditional soy sauce-marinated dried fish prepared using local preservation techniques.
